Hi, I’m Danielle, wife to my amazing husband James, mother to our three beautiful boys and a Paediatric Dietitian.
The heart of this blog is to share my experience of being a Paediatric Dietitian mixed with my real world . . . feeding 3 young boys!
It’s great to know what we’d do in our ideal world, but unfortunately we all know some days don’t look like that! Life is busy and sometimes that home cooked meal is just not going to happen, but that’s ok!
Some days are easier than others and some kids enjoy food more than others. I don’t expect my boys to eat perfectly all the time, but I enjoy trying to make it work the best I can each day. And I also enjoy helping parents do the same for their kids, no matter where they are on their ‘journey’ with food.
Since my first job I realised that working with children was where my passion was. I love helping parents provide the best nutrition they can for their kids, whilst still keeping it practical!
I have 15 years’ experience in childhood nutrition and have worked in 2 of the top children’s hospitals in Europe, most recently, Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
Working there can sometimes feel like a lifetime ago now. In the days before I was called mummy and wished I had £1 for every time I said ‘be gentle with your brother!’ But in reality, it was less than 5 years ago.
I graduated as a Dietitian in 2005 and in 2013 received my MSc in Paediatric Nutrition. I am the author of a chapter in Clinical Paediatric Dietetics, which is the main Paediatric Dietetic Textbook used in the U.K and have worked within the NHS, privately and in industry.
I currently work privately as a Dietitian. For more information about my nutrition consultancy see www.childrensnutritionpractice.co.uk
This blog is about evidence-based nutritional advice whilst still being practical. It’s my personal journey, how I feed my family and how I am trying to encourage healthy food habits and behaviours whilst still being real with you.
My hope is to encourage you, give you new ideas and for you to enjoy feeding your family! Zac is currently 5 years old, Joshua 2 years old and Jonathan 4 months old and this is how we do it . . .
